Sound Cues & Audio Baseline

Anomaly Cafe uses custom music and environmental audio. Players who build a mental baseline detect anomalies faster than those relying on visuals alone — especially Eye Ghost (camera-only) and Head Banger (CCTV-only movement).

Normal Shift Sounds (Baseline)

Spend Day 1 listening without panic. These sounds should feel familiar by Day 3.

Coffee machine hissConstant during rush; volume balanced in v1.4
Plate cleaningLouder on older builds — reduced in v1.3
Customer ambient chatterSteady hum in dining area; drops during anomaly spawn
Order board pingNew order alert — not an anomaly signal
Kitchen event alarmsFuse/power breaker — distinct from anomaly audio

Anomaly Audio Tells

Distorted layer over music

Soft-call to team; verify on CCTV before rejecting

Sudden silence in dining area

Pause serving; assign watcher to scan all cameras

Repeated knocking (Head Banger)

Check CCTV for table-banging anomaly; do not approach in person

High-pitched stinger on customer entry

Mandatory CCTV check — common on Day 5+

Custom music shift (developer tracks)

Some shifts change BGM — not always anomaly-related; note patch changes

Co-op Audio Discipline

  • • Use soft-call ("weird audio, checking cam") before hard-call ("reject")
  • • Require two signals (audio + visual) before rejecting on Day 3-4 to reduce false alarms
  • • v1.4 rebalanced SFX volumes — rebuild baseline after every patch
  • • Headphones recommended; phone speakers miss subtle layers
